As we kick off 2025, the winter months are bringing us a chance to refresh our homes. This year, there is an underlying trend of injecting more personality and individuality into our home decor – gone are the days of millennial grey taking centre stage.

From wall accessories and coloured ceilings to unconventional shapes and more conscious-inspired choices, what winter decor trends are on the Pinterest board for 2025? Let’s find out…

Statement ceilings

First, we had the statement wall, but in 2025 it’s all about the statement ceiling. Known as ‘the fifth wall’, ceilings are now being used to transform a room — adding bundles of character and drawing attention upwards.

Panoramic wallpaper, unique textures, dark paints and even wood paneling are on the list of new and exciting ways to make your ceiling pop. This is a trend that both minimalists and maximalists can embrace. For a bold look, opt for a standout design on both walls and ceilings. For a subtler design, pair neutral colours with interesting textures.

Baked earth colours

Baked earth tones are the last word in comforting colours. Soft ochres, sunbaked reds and pinks, alongside neutral caramels and biscuity hues, offer warmth and reassurance. These shades make an excellent base for bright accents, too; a shock of yellow complements pinkish clay, while lush green pairs beautifully with light-toned neutrals.

Expect interiors to stay grounded, with deep, earthy tones providing texture and pairing seamlessly with biophilic designs and dark green shades. Combine these palettes with other 2025 trends to achieve a natural and inviting atmosphere.

Wall lamps

Social media’s growing disdain for the harsh glare of overhead lights has given wall lamps their moment. Offering a soft and romantic glow similar to table lamps while saving valuable surface space, wall lamps are both stylish and practical.

Designs range from sleek, mid-century styles to fluted brass sconces and frilly lampshades. Their affordability makes them popular in pairs, often bordering beds and sofas or lined up in hallways. Wall lamps bring character and warmth, making them a key trend for winter decor.

Candles

Candles have become a perennial winter favorite, with over two million TikTok posts showcasing their cosy appeal. As temperatures drop, the addition of candles’ earthy tones and decorative holders enhance any colour scheme, providing a welcoming glow.

Whether used for ambiance or as statement decor, candles continue to be a must-have for winter interiors. Look for options in natural colours and materials to stay on trend and create a warm, inviting atmosphere in your home.

House plants

#PlantTok continues to dominate as a home design trend, with over 579,000 posts in the last four months. Filling your home with plants not only improves air quality but also adds texture, colour and life to your decor.

For pet owners, consider pet-friendly plants like areca palms or spider plants to ensure your furry friends stay safe. Incorporating greenery into your space is an easy way to connect with nature while brightening your home.

Unusual shapes

Interior design in 2025 embraces asymmetry and curves, moving away from uniformity. Retro influences remain strong, with curved sofas, chunky armrests and soft-edged tables leading the way.

Low-back sofas, bold shapes and playful designs will define this trend. Mix textures and shades to avoid a monotone look and let your imagination guide you as you experiment with form and function in your living spaces.

Mixing different types of wood and metals

Eclectic interiors are in, with mixed wood tones and metal finishes creating a layered, unique aesthetic. Combining these materials adds depth and character, resulting in a modern yet timeless look. This trend encourages you to mix and match for a curated, personalised feel.

Sustainability

Eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices are becoming staples in interior design. From reclaimed wood furniture to energy-efficient lighting, sustainability focuses on reducing environmental impact while maintaining style and functionality. Incorporating these elements into your decor reflects a commitment to both the planet and modern living.

From statement ceilings to sustainable pieces, winter decor trends for 2025 celebrate individuality, comfort and conscious living. Which of these trends will you bring into your home? Shared them with us on Instagram with the hashtag #MyGascoineHome.
